Give Your Marketing Brain a Rest

It happens to the best of us. We finally stop working, but our minds are still racing with things we need to do. Tasks and priorities that are unfinished on a big long list.

What’s important is to spend your time away from work, not working. It makes us happier in our lives, in our relationships, with our families, and more productive in our business.

So how can you turn off your work brain and let it go?

  1. End today by organizing for tomorrow. Make short lists and assign priorities. 3 – 5 work best. Put important to-dos on your keyboard. Feeling prepared will help you leave the stress of work, at work.
  2. Wind down by reading a book, watching your favorite show, or writing in a journal. Switch the focus from work to relaxation — whatever that means for you. Your brain needs rest, just like your body.
  3. Go for a walk or at least get outside. Fresh air clears your mind and so does exercise. Take your dog for a walk or play with your kids. Schedule some personal bonding time.
  4. If you work from home, set up a designated space and only work there. When you’re done, close the door and walk away. That way, your work won’t be staring you in the face while you’re trying to make dinner or relax with your family.
  5. Put some “me time” on your schedule. Take 15 minutes every day to practice some kind of self-care. It could be meditation, tai chi, yoga, breathing exercises or just take a shower to change up the energy.

The point is you will burn out if you always keep working.
