10 Must-Use AI Content Creation Tools for Small Business Marketing

You know it, I know it. You need a robust online presence if you’re prospecting for clients and want to reach a wide (hey, even global) audience. I could go on and on (and on) about the benefits of online visibility, promoting your brand, boosting sales, gaining credibility, revving up your expert brand authority, getting more speaking gigs, having an awesome profile when people check you out, and naturally, bring in more clients, too.

Your potential clients are scouting you online before deciding whether you’re worthy of a second look or not—way before making a purchasing decision. So, it’s critical to be discoverable online and present content that matters to your audience.

But, there’s a balancing act of working in your business and trying to build a marketing plan to elevate your online presence at the same time. It can be quite the challenge, especially when you’re more familiar with industry nuances than the latest social media strategy.

This is where the power of generative AI tools comes into play. These newcomers offer a lifeline for small business owners and help streamline online engagement efforts, so there’s less work in the long run after you learn the shortcuts.

AI Content Creation Tools

Let’s look at your digital footprint and how to connect with your audience in a meaningful way using AI.

  1. ChatGPT
  2. Canva
  3. Descript
  4. Jasper
  5. Grammarly
  6. Synthesia
  7. Feedly Leo
  8. SEMrush
  9. DreamStudio
  10. Social Searcher

Tool 1. ChatGPT for Personalized Responses

ChatGPT can automate customer interactions and provide instant, relevant responses to inquiries. This tool can be especially useful for handling common questions, freeing up time for more complex tasks.

Why it’s valuable:

You can offer 24/7 support, handle inquiries and feedback, without having to work when you should be sleeping (I need more sleep, you?) And as a byproduct, ChatGPT can help strengthen your sixth pillar of wellness.

No matter what business you’re in, you can automate responses to FAQs on your website and social channels, and filter out the basic stuff so you can spend more time converting business (sales) and engaging with customers (marketing). You need both.

Tool 2. Canva’s Magic Write for Stunning Visuals

Canva’s Magic Write helps you generate creative content for designs and makes it easier to draft eye-catching promotional materials. It really simplifies the design process, and lets non-designers (like yours truly) produce professional-quality visuals once you get the hang of it. Practice does make ‘good enough.’

Why it’s valuable:

You don’t have to spend hours staring at a design and wondering if it’s at least better than average – or come to the conclusion that it really does stink. Thankfully, templates and suggestions make the process easier. So that book cover, social media post, or website banner is one and done – and can always be tweaked later.

Tool 3. Descript for Video Editing

Ah, Descript. It simplifies video production. There are a host of tools available for easy cutting, editing, and adding text overlays. There’s also a transcription feature allowing you to repurpose video content into blogs or social media posts, so you can get the biggest bang for your buck.

Why it’s valuable:

Most of my clients don’t really hate being on video. They hate thinking about what they have to edit and transcribe, and polishing the raw footage. Descript will do that for you, much faster than you can do it yourself. That saves time and energy, and possibly your next 10 videos.

Tool 4. Jasper for Content Creation

What makes Jasper unique is its sophisticated understanding of context and user intent. It helps you create highly relevant and targeted content for blog posts, social media updates, or marketing copy. Everything becomes easier because Jasper tailors it to meet your specific audience needs and objectives. Hands down, it’s a valuable tool if you’re looking to elevate your content strategy game and add a double dose of creativity.

Why it’s valuable:

Jasper doesn’t just create content, it understands how to create different types of content, so you don’t need to research every nuance before you write. That alone makes writing thought leadership pieces quicker to write, edit, and publish. Pair with Grammarly, next up.

Tool 5: Grammarly for Flawless Writing

Was English 101 easy or hard for you? It doesn’t matter what your answer is, you don’t need to worry. Grammarly’s advanced writing assistant helps make sure your content is grammatically correct, clear, and impactful.

Why its valuable:

You can’t expect to remember all the rules of grammar you learned 5, 10, or even 20+ years ago. Let Grammarly do the heavy lifting of grammar rules – you just keep writing those emails, articles, or case studies. Thankfully, you can overwrite their decisions (Grammarly doesn’t love me, but I’m over that). It’s for correcting any type of content, especially if you want to improve readability and sound more professional.

Tool 6: Synthesia for AI Videos

Have you heard about Synthesia? It helps you create AI-generated videos and translate text into video content without filming. This can be remarkably helpful for educational content or product demonstrations. It’s also a visually engaging way to deliver information.

Why it’s valuable:

You don’t need a camera crew or a high-end camera to create videos with Synthesia. If you’re excited about creating instructional content that teaches your audience, it can help you do that without the stress of relying on someone else’s production schedule. Plus, all your video tools are in one place. Marie Kondo would love that!

Tool 7: Use Feedly Leo for Newsletter Content Research

Next up is Feedly Leo, an AI-powered research assistant that’s integrated within the Feedly aggregation platform. It helps you filter through the noisy internet and prioritizes, summarizes, and finds the most relevant articles and topics based on your interests and preferences. Leo learns from how you interact (of course), what you like, and finds types of content you’ll find most valuable.

Why it’s valuable:

To be the best at writing newsletters or blogs, you need to know what’s current and relevant to your audience. And, no surprise, it takes time to do the research. That’s where Leo comes in to help you decide what matters quickly. Work at your own pace and cut your research time in half. Thank you, Leo,

Tool 8: SEMrush for SEO Optimization

For SEO, SEMrush is a premier platform that offers tools for keyword research; it also tracks search engine rankings, conducts site audits, and identifies backlink opportunities. It’s also known for analyzing competitors’ strategies and providing insights to improve search engine visibility and performance. Plus – it optimizes your on-page and off-page SEO.

Why it’s valuable:

SEMrush is one of the top SEO tools, and with free searches each month, it can be relatively inexpensive for small business owners and teams. As long as you’re in business, you know how important it is to have a strong brand and increase your visibility online to build like, know, and trust so your audience will buy (and keep buying). Having great SEO is a must have, not even a nice to have, to get found, especially in competitive industries.

Tool 9: DreamStudio for Image Generation

DreamStudio is a generative AI text-to-image web app that helps users design images from text prompts. It has a friendly interface, versatile capabilities, and lets you create personalized art photographs, illustrations, with unique features like inpainting, outpainting, and advanced image upscaling.

The platform also has a seamless editing experience, which makes it a valuable tool for artists, graphic designers, and anyone interested in exploring the possibilities of AI-generation. Have you experimented yet with AI design? It can be addicting. Set your timer.

Why it’s valuable:

DreamStudio is known for its ability to accept negative prompts – so you can tell it what not to do just as easily as you can tell it what to do. Say you have a podcast or newsletter, there’s always some kind of image you’ll need. Why not test-drive the app to create a customized image and save the cost of stock photography?

Tool 10: Social Searcher for Monitoring Brand Sentiment

Last, in this list anyway, there’s Social Searcher, a free social media search engine that lets you monitor public mentions across social networks and the web. You can monitor social media in real-time, look at your social analytics, audience insights, popular hashtags, and identify influencers – for starters.

There are also premium features for brand monitoring, data export, and immediate email alerts for new mentions. All these help streamline your online presence management efforts to save time. That’s one thing you can’t get back.

Why it’s valuable:

Social Searcher helps you organize sentiment analysis in one place, plus you have access to popular hashtags to help improve your SEO (a great bonus). It also allows you to track mentions of your book, name, or company to understand how your customers are talking about your business or product online. Then you can create content to address their questions and concerns or capitalize on that oh-so-wonderful free publicity tool, positive word of mouth.

Closing Out: AI Content Creation

It takes a bunch of time, effort, and patience to create an online presence that wows your audience, and connecting with your audience can be challenging. AI tools can simplify these tasks when you understand them, work with them, and humanize their output.
